Democrats regularly like to claim that spreading misinformation is a dangerous thing. They’ve often claimed it “threatens our democracy” and endangers the nation. Yet, despite all these warnings, Democrats are among the biggest purveyors of incorrect information, and pass it off as truth. And there may be no greater example of this than the annual claim that Michael Brown, a black teenager from Ferguson, Missouri, was killed by police officer Darren Wilson in 2014 and it happened because of racism and white supremacy.

Consider perpetual race-baiter and misinformation spreader Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), who tweeted this very thing about Michael Brown on Wednesday. It is something Bush has done every year since she’s been elected to office. It’s been just as much a lie this year as when she first claimed it.

UP FOR DEBATE: WHERE TRUMP, DESANTIS, AND REST OF REPUBLICAN 2024 FIELD STAND ON KEY ISSUES

“Today is the 9th anniversary of Mike Brown’s killing. He would be alive today if the institutions of racism and white supremacy were eradicated,” Bush posted on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter. “He should be alive today. We will never forget. We will continue to fight for justice and accountability.”

Bush’s tweet was a racist lie advanced by an extremist congresswoman who cares only about pushing false narratives, narratives that have led to numerous riots, death, and destruction, because telling the truth about Michael Brown does not align with her dogmatism. Every investigation of Michael Brown’s death showed that Brown was the problem on Aug. 9, 2014, not police officer Darren Wilson, not racism, and not white supremacy. Any claims stating anything else are completely false.

Other agitators on the Left repeat this lie. For example, radical left-wing “attorney” Ben Crump, who is regularly involved in cases against police officers and is known for being less than honest and manipulating stories, also posted the racist lie about Michael Brown’s death.

“Michael Brown was killed 9 yrs ago today. He was just 18 when he was shot and killed by an officer in Ferguson (MO),” Crump wrote on Wednesday. “Michael’s death shined a light on the police violence faced by Black men in this country everyday — for that, we’ll NEVER forget his life! Rest in Power.”

Crump likes to post something like this every year. But there was one significant difference in Crump’s message this year. While still untruthful, this year’s post from Crump omitted an important detail that Crump usually mentions, including his tweet last year. Here is Crump’s tweet from 2022:

“8 years ago, Michael Brown was killed, with his hands up in surrender, by Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson. Michael’s future was stolen from him mere DAYS after he attended his high school graduation ceremony. We’ll ALWAYS remember him! Rest In Power, Mike.”

Crump has repeatedly said Brown was shot with his hands up and in a surrender position. It was largely the basis for the “Hands up, don’t shoot” charade that was falsely advanced by Democrat politicians and their narrative pushers in the mainstream media. Yet, the federal investigation into Brown’s death showed that was not true.

Michael Brown is dead because of the poor choices Michael Brown made. However, Democrats are afraid to tell the truth about Michael Brown because it’s easier to blame things like racism and white supremacy than Brown’s criminal actions. Furthermore, the truth doesn’t align with the Left’s desire to distort facts to create racial animosity in the country. If they lose the ability to do that, they lose most of their political influence.
