Man found dead in lake on Fort Knox Army base

A man was found dead in Crystal Lake near the Fort Knox Army Base in Kentucky on Wednesday evening.

The U.S. Army posted on Facebook Thursday that the Fort Knox Directorate of Emergency Services received a report of an unresponsive individual at the lake, which is a “publicly accessible area of post” near the city of Muldraugh in Kentucky.

“Fort Knox emergency responders arrived at the scene and confirmed that there was a deceased male in the lake,” the army wrote.

The death of the man, who has not been named or identified, is under review by the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division. It is unclear at this time whether the deceased man is a military member stationed at Fort Knox.

Fort Knox, which lies just south of the Ohio River and the Indiana border, encompasses more than 100,000 acres.
