Former Vice President Mike Pence’s presidential campaign is capitalizing on former President Donald Trump’s recent indictment related to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot and efforts to overturn the 2020 election by selling new merchandise.

The Pence campaign has made available T-shirts and hats branded with the phrase “Too Honest,” which is allegedly the phrase Trump used to describe his vice president when he wouldn’t go along with his plan to overturn the election’s results, something Pence maintained he didn’t have the power to do.

RNC ANNOUNCES CRITERIA FOR SECOND DEBATE DESPITE UNCERTAIN TRUMP PARTICIPATION

Trump was indicted by a federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday. Special counsel Jack Smith brought four new charges against the former president, including conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights. These were stated in a 45-page indictment.

Also in the indictment is the description of a Jan. 1, 2021, call between Pence and Trump, during which the former president is said to have berated his vice president over his maintained belief that he did not have the authority to alter the outcome of the 2020 election at its certification. This is also when he allegedly called Pence “too honest.”

Trump will be arraigned at the Elijah Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse in Washington on Thursday at 4 p.m. Eastern time.

Pence has maintained roughly 7% in national polling from Morning Consult since launching his presidential bid in June. He has yet to qualify for the Republican National Committee’s Aug. 23 primary debate, which requires 40,000 unique donors from each candidate.

Pence easily satisfied the RNC’s requirements for polling but has had a harder time amassing enough donors. However, in an update to top donors on Wednesday, his campaign said it has more than 30,000 donors and will qualify by the end of next week. The campaign even suggested that the new “Too Honest” merchandise may boost it to 40,000 donors.
