Police have set up fencing around the United States Capitol ahead of former President Donald Trump’s arraignment.

Trump is scheduled to be arraigned for his third indictment on Thursday afternoon, this time over charges relating to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. The arraignment will take place at a courthouse located between the White House and Capitol; it’s close enough to the latter that extra security measures were seemingly taken.

THE MIXED MESSAGES OF BIDENOMICS

Video of police putting up the barriers around the Capitol was posted to social media, with many seeing irony in the move.

On Tuesday, Trump was indicted on four charges relating to the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol and alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election. He faces charges of conspiracy to defraud the United States; conspiracy to impede the Jan. 6 congressional proceeding; a conspiracy against the right to vote and to have that vote counted; and obstruction of the certification of the electoral vote.

Tuesday’s indictment is the latest in a saga Trump has faced since leaving office. His first indictment came in March, and it made him the first former president to be indicted.
