Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D-IL) bashed Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), saying he “isn’t smart enough to be president.”
The two governors have been in a war of words, with the most recent point of contention being a law Pritzker signed that would allow illegal immigrants to become police officers. DeSantis denounced the move as damaging, jeopardizing citizenship and American sovereignty. Pritzker responded by questioning the Florida governor’s intelligence.

“This man isn’t smart enough to be president,” Pritzker posted on X, the outlet formerly known as Twitter. “I proudly signed the bill allowing legal permanent residents & DACA recipients in IL to serve their communities as police officers. Our military already does it & it’s the right thing to do—no matter what lies the right-wing spreads.”

DeSantis had portrayed Pritzker’s law as the latest sign of the effects of the border crisis, taking the opportunity to pledge to fight illegal immigration if elected president.

“To the Left, citizenship is meaningless. Illinois is now letting illegal aliens become police officers,” he posted on X. “In Florida, we took action to combat the harms of Biden’s border crisis. We also value our citizen officers who serve and protect our communities.”
“As President, I will restore American sovereignty,” he pledged. “No illegal alien should have authority over any American citizen. It is a sad commentary on the state of America that this is even a debate.”
