Vice President Kamala Harris dismissed threats from House Republicans over a potential impeachment of President Joe Biden as “political games.”

Harris did not appear phased by the threats of an impeachment inquiry against the president by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) during an interview Tuesday on ABC News Live’s Prime with Linsey Davis.

“I don’t really have much to say about, again, the cinema and the grand gestures that are political games,” Harris said in response to being asked what she thinks about the impeachment threat to Biden.

“But what I will say is this: let’s get to work. The people who are in these positions of leadership, there’s still so much work we need to do,” she added.

When asked if she is concerned about a Democratic challenger, such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., or a third-party candidate, from the Green Party or No Labels, potentially derailing her and Biden’s reelection bid in 2024, Harris said that she and Biden are focused on “strengthening America.”

“I’ll tell you, our focus has been on strengthening America and doing the work every day. It is about seeing through what we are doing to bring down the cost of healthcare, what we are fighting for in terms of strengthening the economy and America’s families. You probably saw recently that projections around recession and inflation are reduced very much because of our economic policies,” Harris said.

“These are the things that we’re focused on, and President Joe Biden and I feel very strongly that our primary focus should be on strengthening America’s families and focused on the future in a way that actually lifts people up and doesn’t tear people down,” she added.

Harris will be in the spotlight for the White House this week as Biden is on vacation in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The vice president is attending several events, including an African Methodist Episcopal Church convention in Orlando, Florida, on Tuesday.

Despite concerns about her popularity, Biden is sticking with Harris as his running mate for 2024 as the two seek a second term as president and vice president.
