Actor and beloved fan favorite of HBO’s hit series Euphoria Angus Cloud died Monday at his parent’s home in Oakland, California, his family announced. He was 25 years old.

Cloud’s family said he had been heartbroken after they buried his father last week, a man Cloud’s family described as “his best friend.” The cause of his death has not been given.

“It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today,” Cloud’s family said in a statement. “As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways.”

The family said the “only comfort” they have is knowing Cloud is now reunited with his father, adding that Angus struggled with his mental health and was open about his fight with it.

“We hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence. We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss.”

Cloud rose to prominence in HBO’s hit series Euphoria, which debuted in 2019 and chronicles a group of high school students who struggle with addiction, sexuality, and much more sensitive material. Cloud played Fezco, a soft-spoken drug dealer who was a guardian angel of sorts to Zendaya’s lead character, Rue.

The role vaulted him to stardom, and he became the face of the Polo by Ralph Lauren Fragrances franchise, as well as featuring in independent films North Hollywood and The Line.

Those involved with the hit TV show expressed their anguish and condolences following the news of the young actor’s death.

“We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family,” HBO said in a statement. “We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”

“There was no one quite like Angus. He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon,” showrunner Sam Levinson said in a statement to Deadline. “He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression. I hope he knew how many hearts he touched. I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace and God Bless his family.”
