A new poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports confirmed what many voters say to each other: we’re doomed. The interesting twist on this survey is that the answer is more indicative of the country’s political tribalism than any particular candidate’s character or platform.

Rasmussen Reports revealed that 82% of the country thinks we are doomed if President Joe Biden or former President Donald Trump is reelected president in 2024. This breaks down to 40% of “likely U.S. voters” agreeing that the country is doomed unless Biden is elected. Conversely, 42% of voters felt that Trump must win in 2024 or “the United States is doomed.”

ON ISRAELI COURT REFORM, BIDEN SHOULD CHECK HIMSELF

Another interesting tidbit from the poll, though unsurprising given their penchant for hyperbolic hysteria they spew on nearly every political issue, was that those that “self-identified” as liberal voters were “more doom prone than conservatives.” According to the survey, 69% of liberals agreed in some form with the “Biden-or-doom” attitude regarding the 2024 presidential election. Comparatively, 63% of conservative voters supported the “Trump-or-doom scenario.”

But, out of all the feelings among voters of impending disaster, the most interesting revelation of these poll results was the division between high-income and low-income voters. Trump, a noted billionaire and entrenched member of the socioeconomic upper class, had the support of people who made less money. Lower-income voters were “significantly more likely to agree” with the must-be-Trump mentality, according to the Rasmussen poll.

Conversely, the affluent class, those voters earning more than $200,000 in an annual salary and in the highest bracket, overwhelmingly supported Biden, with 66% of those voters at least somewhat agreeing that “Joe Biden must be re-elected president next year, or the United States is doomed.”

Other than the apparent hyperpartisan allegiance to political candidates that was revealed in the survey, one of the more discouraging results from the poll was probably that only 24% of voters “strongly disagree” with both the Biden-or-doom and Trump-or-doom statements. This would suggest that less than 1 out of every 4 voters are not expecting the country’s impending implosion after the next election. This is neither good nor how our constitutional republic is supposed to work.

The poll reveals what many people in the country already knew: we are a country divided. Whether Biden or Trump is the next president, or even if it is some other candidate, doomsday prognostications centered on an election winner are not ideal for the country.
