This will be Mayorkas’s first time testifying before the House Judiciary Committee since the pandemic-era rapid expulsion policy, Title 42, expired. Republican members of Congress are expected to critique Mayorkas’s job performance. Impeachment and other punishments have been discussed against the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
