Food stamps: First CalFresh payment for August worth up to $1,691 to arrive in seven days

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, a federal program that provides food assistance to low-income individuals and families, will send the first payment for August worth up to $1,691 to California residents in seven days.
SNAP payments are sent out on the same days every month depending on the state. Arrival dates for those who receive CalFresh benefits depend on a household’s Social Security number, last name, or case number.

In California, payments are distributed from Aug. 1 to Aug. 10. If a case number ends in 1, California recipients can expect to see their CalFresh benefits on Aug. 1. If a case number ends in 2, CalFresh benefits will be available on Aug. 2. The payment dates continue until Aug. 10, when those with a case number ending in 0 will receive their payment.

The maximum allotment for a household of one person for each month in the Golden State is $281. The maximum SNAP amount for a household of four is $939, and the maximum amount for a household of eight is $1,691. For each additional household member past eight, CalFresh adds up to $211.
Roughly 13% of California’s population receives CalFresh assistance, according to 2022 data from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
