Rand Paul’s local Kentucky office damaged in building fire

A Kentucky office building that houses Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-KY) Bowling Green office was heavily damaged in a fire early Friday morning, causing a roof collapse and the destruction of a local law firm.

Fire crews responded to the fire at around 2 a.m. on Friday, calling additional units to assist with extinguishing the flames, according to Bowling Green Fire Department spokeswoman Katie McKee. Six fire units worked for hours to put out the flames, and the extent of the damages remains unclear.

“We are thankful for the Bowling Green first responders who arrived quickly to the scene to put out the fire, and are continuing to work with authorities to assess damages and to determine a cause,” Paul said in a statement. “We have a very well established emergency management plan and have the ability to continue operations that will not impact our work helping Kentuckians.”

The cause of the fire has not been determined, and officials say the matter remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
