Food stamps: Final direct payment worth up to $1,116 to arrive in Washington tomorrow

Washingtons Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will end for July tomorrow, and participating households that have not yet received their payments should get one by Thursday.

Food stamps in Washington state are issued between July 1 and July 20. The SNAP benefits arrival dates remain the same each month, but eligible households’ specific payment dates depend on a variety of factors, including a recipient’s Social Security number, last name, case number, or account number.

SNAP-participating households must meet certain requirements to secure food stamps. In Washington, recipients must be U.S. citizens or lawfully admitted residents who meet the state’s five-year residency requirement.

Around 310,900 people, or 18% of the population, receive food stamps in Washington. The average payment per household member each month is $168.

In Washington, a household of one can receive a maximum payment of $281 in SNAP benefits, a household of three’s maximum payment is $740, and a household of five can receive up to $1,116.

The money is reloaded each month on an electronic benefit transfer card, which is similar to a debit card. Food stamps can be used at participating grocery stores, farmer’s markets, or some online retailers.
