Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) has released a new ad encouraging people to move to her state, telling viewers that “South Dakota’s hiring.”

The video, which features the governor as a welder, is part of the state’s “Freedom Works Here” campaign, a nationwide workforce recruitment effort.

“South Dakota recognizes most out-of-state professional licenses, our industries accept other states’ apprenticeship programs, and to ease the financial burden, we’re investing in scholarships to get people trained and on the job,” Noem says in the ad.

The South Dakota governor has described “Freedom Works Here” as the most successful recruitment campaign in the state’s history, with 287 million people having seen the advertisements.

“More than 3,000 have gone through the process of applying,” Noem said in a press release. “More than 500 are in the final stages of moving to South Dakota. And with this new ad, we aren’t slowing down.”

Previous ads for the recruitment campaign have featured Noem assuming the role of a plumber fixing a sink, as well as a dentist.

Noem, one of the most well-known Republican governors in the United States, said she does not see a “path for victory” for any Republican presidential candidate in 2024 aside from former President Donald Trump in an interview last month. However, when asked if she would be making an endorsement, the governor said, “No. I don’t think so.”
