Newt Gingrich: Georgia runoff still ‘up in the air’ and Republicans could pick up big win

Newt Gingrich is forecasting that Sen. Raphael Warnock (D) may currently have an advantage in the Georgia Senate runoff in terms of votes cast, but Herschel Walker (R) can still make up the difference if he has a big turnout on election days.
The former House speaker says the race for the Peach State’s Senate seat is still very much “up in the air” when speaking on Fox News Channel’s Fox and Friends on Monday.

“If Herschel has a really big day tomorrow, he’ll win. If he doesn’t have a really big turnout, he won’t win. I think in votes actually cast, Warnock’s a little bit ahead, but he’s not enough ahead to be safe. So it’s up in the air.”
Gingrich also teased that Georgia’s win in the SEC Championship game may boost Walker, as he was a legendary player for the Georgia Bulldogs in the 1980s.

A win for Walker would mean a 50-50 Senate, split evenly between Senators who caucus with Democrats and Republicans, with Vice President Kamala Harris being the tiebreaking vote. A victory for Warnock would give Democrats a clear 51-49 majority.
Gingrich has previously discussed how a 50-50 Senate would be easier for Republicans in the House to get agenda items accomplished, among the other issues Kevin McCarthy will face if he is elected to the post of House speaker next month.
