Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry dropped the first preview for their Netflix documentary series Thursday, coinciding with Prince William and Kate Middleton’s first visit to the United States in eight years.

The trailer for Netflix’s Harry & Meghan documentary promised an inside look at the difficulties the royal couple faced while in the global spotlight, including touching on allegations of racism in the royal family.

“No one sees what’s happening behind closed doors,” Harry said in a teaser for the six-part documentary. “I had to do everything I could to protect my family.”

The documentary will include a deeper dive into the controversies surrounding the royal couple and shed light on the reasons the couple left the royal scene for life in the U.S.

“When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?” Meghan asked.

The documentary is the latest in a string of promotional activities for the couple, with Meghan giving a talk at an event hosted by the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana. Upcoming activities for the royals include the release of Harry’s memoir Spare, which will be released in January, and a visit to New York City next week for the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization’s Ripple of Hope Award Gala.

The drop comes as William and his wife, the Princess of Wales, visit Boston on their first overseas trip since the death of Queen Elizabeth II. It also marks the first stateside visit from the couple in eight years. The royal couple is in Boston to promote their climate change initiative, the Earthshot Prize, and they will honor the winners of the prize Friday night.

William, the heir apparent, will be greeted by President Joe Biden on Friday afternoon at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. The Earthshot initiative was inspired by Kennedy’s moonshot speech, which challenged astronauts to place a man on the moon by the end of the decade. Likewise, William hopes to find solutions to climate change by 2030.
