Remember all the anger and vitriol directed at Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for sending illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts? Well, those illegal immigrants are loving their new life there.

Well, at least the ones that liberals didn’t force to leave.

Of the 49 illegal immigrants for whom DeSantis was able to secure trips to Martha’s Vineyard, just four remain there. The tolerant liberal elites at Martha’s Vineyard couldn’t find room in their hearts, apparently, for the other 45. The four that remain are now working in landscaping, gardening, painting, and roofing.

Yes, the only four illegal immigrants who Martha’s Vineyard didn’t ship out went into stereotypical labor jobs working on the houses and gardens of the liberal elites who allowed them to stay. Make of that what you will.

That aside, the message from these illegal immigrants who stayed was clear: They love Martha’s Vineyard. According to the New York Times, one woman “never imagined that one day she would be working and living on a wealthy island south of Cape Cod, surrounded by boats and mansions of the kind she had seen only in the movies.” “This is home now,” she said. “I don’t want to leave.”

In other words, Ron DeSantis was viciously attacked by establishment media and Democratic politicians for sending illegal immigrants to a place that would welcome them and in which they would love to live. Martha’s Vineyard had declared itself a “sanctuary destination,” and appears to be acting that way (at least for the four illegal immigrants it didn’t expel). So what was so cruel about this?

That question could be asked about any sanctuary city that has now had to endure but a fraction of what Texas and Arizona border towns have during President Joe Biden’s border crisis. Chicago, Washington, D.C., and New York City all complained about illegal immigrants arriving from Texas and Arizona despite their sanctuary statuses. Sacramento, California, is a sanctuary city inside a sanctuary state, and yet Democrats there accused DeSantis of human trafficking for helping get illegal immigrants to a place that would presumably accept them with open arms, as we’re being told Martha’s Vineyard did.

At the end of the day, the New York Times only vindicates the decision of DeSantis and other Republicans to send illegal immigrants to liberal “sanctuaries.” After all, they are being accepted into the community and are now calling it home. Surely, other illegal immigrants would like to experience the welcoming environment of Martha’s Vineyard now.
