Freedom Caucus considers booting Marjorie Taylor Greene as infighting comes to head: Report

Conservative firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has been named as one of the members of the House Freedom Caucus that could be on the chopping block, according to reports published Friday.

Some lawmakers in the political group are supposedly looking to make cuts from its ranks after tensions among House Republican came to a head this week. Greene and fellow firebrand Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) have been feuding over competing efforts to impeach President Joe Biden, resulting in Greene calling Boebert a “little b****” on Wednesday.

During a closed-door meeting of the caucus on Friday, Greene was among the members whom lawmakers expressed disappointment in, with two sources claiming Greene’s actions were “unprofessional,” according to Axios.

Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) confirmed talks were underway about whether the group should oust certain lawmakers who no longer match the standards or stances of the caucus, but Norman did not confirm that Greene was one of those members.

“At the proper time, it will be out in the public,” Norman said on Friday. “I’m not telling you when. I’m not telling you what’s being said. [The decisions] will be out in the public.”

It is unclear how many members are being considered or whether Boebert is also on the potential chopping block. Greene and Boebert have also clashed in the past, with Boebert telling Greene not to be “ugly” during the votes for House speaker.

Despite the closed-door discussions, three lawmakers in the group said they do not believe an ousting would actually take place because some members are more hesitant to vote. To remove someone, it would take an 80% majority.

Freedom Caucus Chairman Scott Perry (R-PA) said he wouldn’t entertain the idea of removing members from the caucus, telling Politico he declined requests he received from some lawmakers.
