The program is intended to help mothers in the city, which is home to more than 100,000 people.

While payments for this program will typically be issued on the first of a month, the monthly payment will be issued on the Friday before the next month when a month starts on either a Saturday or Sunday. This is why the program, while starting in July, is sending its first payment on June 30, the city’s community & economic development director told the Washington Examiner.

In total, the program will last a whole year, giving recipients a total of 12 payments. The final payment will be issued on Friday, May 31, 2024.

Applications for this program opened on March 27, and remained open for a little less than three weeks when the application window closed on April 15. The recipients of this guaranteed income program were selected by April 26.
