Nancy Pelosi rips Republicans as controlled by Trump: ‘You look miserable’

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) shredded Republican lawmakers on the House floor Wednesday, claiming Republicans are controlled by former President Donald Trump and look “miserable.”
Pelosi mocked Republicans trying to censure Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) for claims of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential election.

“Today we are on the floor of the House, where the other side has turned this chamber ― where slavery was abolished, where Medicare and Social Security and everything were instituted ― they’ve turned it into a puppet show,” Pelosi said during a debate on the House floor. “And you know what? The puppeteer, Donald Trump, is shining a light on the strings. You look miserable.”

Pelosi claimed the only advantage to conservative lawmakers seeking to punish Schiff is that they’re wasting time rather than trying to undo Democratic successes.
“Instead of reversing what we did on the [Inflation Reduction Act] to save the planet or reversing what we did to reduce the cost of prescription drugs, you’re wasting time,” Pelosi said.

The House voted to censure Schiff over allegations he abused the trust of his constituents by pushing claims that Trump colluded with Russia to rig the 2016 election. The vote marks the second time this month Republicans have sought to censure Schiff over the claims, previously failing to overcome the 218 majority votes needed to pass the motion.
Censures do not actually have any consequences themselves, but it is a show of disapproval over the actions of a lawmaker. However, the vote can harm Schiff’s reputation as he runs for the Senate.
