
Food Stamps: Final monthly direct payment worth up to $1,691 for SNAP benefits in Michigan to go out today

Wednesday is the last day Michigan recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will receive their SNAP benefits this month.
Approximately 1.34 million Michigan residents, or 13% of the population, receive food stamps. The average payment per household member per month is $188.
FOOD STAMPS: ONE BILL COULD GIVE BILLIONS TO SNAP PROGRAM
The maximum payment that Michigan households can receive is $281 for a family of one, $939 for a family of four, and $1,691 for a family of eight.
SNAP benefits are calculated based on household income and size. The recipient’s household income generally must be at or below 130% of the poverty line. In fiscal 2023, the poverty line used to calculate SNAP benefits is $1,920 a month.

Michigan’s SNAP benefits are issued beginning June 5 until June 21. The dates typically stay the same month to month but vary by state.
Recipients usually see their SNAP benefits reloaded on the same day each month, with the date depending upon a recipient’s Social Security number, last name, case number, or account number.
