Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) responded to news that President Joe Biden‘s son will avoid jail time for tax and gun-related charges by attacking the Justice Department as “weaponized” against conservatives, promising to fire its leaders if elected president in 2024.

Like other presidential hopefuls, Scott called the plea deal Hunter Biden reached with prosecutors for misdemeanor tax evasion charges evidence of a two-tiered system of justice. Hunter Biden separately entered into a pretrial agreement with the Department of Justice over his alleged purchase of a firearm while he was an illicit drug user.

BIDEN’S CLIMATE AGENDA DREAMS COLLIDE WITH MILITARY REALITIES

“We all know this, that the big guy has some explaining to do without any question,” Scott said during a town hall event with Fox News’s Sean Hannity Tuesday night. “Big guy” is an apparent reference to Joe Biden, whom Republicans accuse of accepting bribes during his time as vice president.

“We all have to be treated equally under the eyes and the laws of our country. And when the Bidens get away with that, we need to thank God for Sen. Grassley and congressman [James] Comer for doing their jobs,” he added.

Republicans Comer and Grassley both said they would continue their investigations into Hunter Biden and Joe Biden despite the guilty plea. “Today’s plea deal cannot be the final word given the significant body of evidence that the FBI and Justice Department has at its disposal. It certainly won’t be for me,” Grassley said in a statement on Tuesday.

Likewise, Comer said the charges “have no impact on the Oversight Committee’s investigation. We will not rest until the full extent of President Biden’s involvement in the family’s schemes are revealed.”

Scott vowed that if the Republican investigations falter, he had a solution.

“If they can’t finish their investigation, President Tim Scott will finish it,” he said to claps and roars of approval from the crowd in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.”With your help, we’re gonna fire Joe Biden, and then we’re gonna fire [Attorney General] Merrick Garland and fire [FBI Director] Christoper Wray.”

Scott then went on to echo a complaint many Republicans have reiterated in the past 24 hours. “It is unacceptable and un-American to weaponize the Department of Justice against your political opponents. It’s just wrong,” Scott said.
