White House to push for abortion rights ahead of Roe reversal’s one-year anniversary

The White House will host several high-profile events intended to highlight women’s stories of being denied abortion services in the past year as the reversal of Roe v. Wade nears its one-year anniversary this week.
First lady Jill Biden will hold a discussion on Tuesday, which is set to begin the week’s events.

“The Biden-Harris Administration stands with the vast majority of Americans who believe that the right to choose is fundamental and that healthcare decisions should be made between a woman and her doctor,” a White House official told NBC.
Vice President Kamala Harris will give a speech in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday. It will be exactly one year since the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court decision took effect, as the Washington Examiner reported last week.

The Biden administration “will continue to call on Congress to pass a law restoring the protections of Roe v. Wade,” the official said.
President Joe Biden and second gentleman Doug Emhoff are also expected to speak on abortion access this week.
