All that aid is now gone. Yet prospects for more federal stimulus this year appear all but dead, clouding the future for the unemployed, for small businesses and for the economy as a whole.(AP Photo/Eric Gay, File) (Eric Gay/AP)

New Mexico will issue tax rebates worth up to $1,000 to eligible taxpayers in six days.

All residents of the state who filed their 2021 taxes are eligible. Single filers will receive $500, and married couples filing jointly will receive $1,000. Those who have selected the option can have their funds delivered via direct deposit, which will be sent out on June 20. The rest will be issued paper checks, which will be printed between June 20 and 29, according to KOAT 7.

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM) touted the rebates in a statement, saying it was a personal priority for her.

“Prices for basic necessities continue to be high across the nation,” she said. “Our state today is in a fantastic financial position, and it’s important to me that New Mexico’s families are sharing in that success.”

Taxpayers who have moved to a different address since filing their 2021 tax return can update their address using the Taxpayer Access Point self-service portal on New Mexico’s Taxation and Revenue Department website or submit a change of address form to the department.

Taxpayers who have changed their banking information since submitting their 2021 tax returns will get their rebates through a check in the mail.
