‘Public deserves to know’: Musk soon to release files on Twitter’s suppressed free speech

Twitter CEO Elon Musk revealed this week that files related to the social media platform’s history of suppressing content would be released soon.
“The Twitter Files on free speech suppression soon to be published on Twitter itself,” Musk tweeted Monday. “The public deserves to know what really happened.”

Last week, Musk suggested Twitter must come clean regarding its suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story during the 2020 presidential election, tweeting that transparency is “necessary to restore public trust.”
Musk’s Monday announcement also follows a statement in which he agreed with conservative filmmaker and author Dinesh D’Souza‘s concern that Twitter has historically censored conservatives.
The Washington Examiner confirmed the authenticity of the Hunter Biden laptop’s hard drive, which contained photographs, emails, and documents connected to his personal and professional dealings.

In October, Rep. James Comer (R-KY), the ranking member on the House Oversight Committee, called on Musk to produce all Twitter records related to the social media platform’s decision to suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story.
Comer’s appeal followed a previous request to former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal to preserve documentation, which the congressman said was ignored.
