Dana White, the CEO of the UFC and a longtime ally of President Donald Trump, responded to a question on Saturday night about the president saying he should serve as his next White House press secretary.
While taking questions from reporters at a boxing event in London, White said he is flying to Washington, D.C., “right now” when he was asked for his reaction to the post and further details. White also said he will meet with the president on Monday and that he “has a lot of jobs already.”
It is unclear whether Trump was joking about the Saturday afternoon offer, as the key position has remained unfilled since Katie Zacharia’s five-day stint in the role, and White would be an untraditional and unprecedented choice. Trump hosted a UFC event on the White House lawn over the summer as part of the America 250 celebrations.
“I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job as Press Secretary of the United States,” Trump wrote in the Truth Social post. “Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!”
Though White didn’t overtly answer the reporter’s question, he posted what appeared to be an AI-generated image of him standing behind the White House podium on his Instagram story with the caption “Onto the next chapter” following Trump’s post.
TRUMP OFFERS WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY POSITION TO DANA WHITE
The president has long touted his relationships with celebrities in both his first and second terms. He campaigned with rap mogul Nicki Minaj and retired boxing legend Mike Tyson ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, and has spoken often about how he used to be friendly with Democratic figures before deciding to run for president in 2016.
Trump hasn’t publicly commented much on his plans to replace Zacharia in recent weeks. Karoline Leavitt, who held the position before resigning in August to spend more time with her family, was widely viewed as an extremely successful member of the Trump administration.
