Yes, JD Vance: Losing the midterms was ‘worth it’ to prevent a nuclear Iran

.

Fresh off Tuesday’s electoral beatdown, some conservatives are arguing that it would have been better for Iran to have a nuke than for the Democrats to win the midterms. That’s a suicidal assessment. You can easily take back Congress in one or two election cycles, but a nuclear Iran is an irreversible crisis.

Reflecting on the election results, Vice President JD Vance posted on X, “The reason we lost is the war… If you’d like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so.”

Here goes nothing.

DEMOCRATS RAN RADICALS AND STILL WON. DON’T BLAME THE CANDIDATES — TRUMP OWNS THIS BLOODBATH

It doesn’t matter which party controls Congress if Iran launches a nuclear attack. The nuke wouldn’t even have to hit American soil to bring about mass destruction — simply exploding in the atmosphere could destroy our electrical grid and agriculture, and exploding in the ocean could cause a tsunami.

Iran is a literal terrorist regime. It is the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world. Its leaders chant “death to America” on the regular. And there are really people who would rather “own the libs” than prevent terrorists from obtaining a nuclear weapon with which they can hold the entire world hostage?

Worse yet, once they obtain the nuke, there’s no way to remove the mullahs from power. This is, in large part, precisely why Kim Jong Un’s regime in North Korea is still in power. Except Iran is much more dangerous than North Korea, both in how much geopolitical and economic influence it wields and in how militarily aggressive it is. Need I remind you that Iran tried to have our president assassinated?

President Donald Trump said on the campaign trail that high gas prices are a “small price to pay” to prevent Iran from striking Los Angeles and San Diego. A Democratic majority, too, is a small price to pay. It’s not like the Republican Party did much of anything with its majority — plus, the president still has veto power.

Democratic majorities come and go. Throughout American history, control of Congress has changed hands nearly two dozen times. Iran having a nuclear weapon, on the other hand, is an existential crisis. Mutually assured destruction is the reason no country actually uses its nuclear weapons. Yet mutually assured destruction is the end goal for jihadists, who see martyrdom — which, in their view, involves dying in the act of killing non-Muslims and Muslim “hypocrites” — as the ultimate goal and the only way to guarantee entrance into paradise.

In the words of Muhammad, as recorded in Sahih al Bukhari 2797, “I would love to be martyred in Allah’s Cause and then get resurrected and then get martyred, and then get resurrected again and then get martyred and then get resurrected again and then get martyred.” He added, as recorded in Sahih al Bukhari 2817, “Nobody who enters Paradise likes to go back to the world even if he got everything on the earth, except a Mujahid who wishes to return to the world so that he may be martyred ten times.”

If there were ever one country worth paying $4 a gallon for gas and having a temporary Democratic majority to prevent it from obtaining a nuclear weapon, it’s the Islamic Republic. Because if there were ever one country that would actually use its nuclear weapon, it’s the extremist theocracy that sees dying in the act of killing infidels as a free ticket to heaven.

OBAMA IS ‘TIRED OF BEING DIVIDED’: POT, MEET KETTLE

The Democrats we elected are awful; there is no doubt about that. But when their policies fail, as they always do, the pendulum will swing back to the Right. And it’ll swing back to the Left again sometime after that. That’s how elections work. As much as it sucks, it’s not the end of the world when your party loses. However, if Iran obtained a nuclear weapon, we’d be looking at a crisis of truly apocalyptic proportions.

So yes, Vance, preventing Iran from obtaining a nuke was absolutely worth losing the midterms. And if Republicans don’t do a good enough job selling this argument to the general public, they’ll deserve to lose in 2028 as well.
