House Judiciary Committee Democrats released a report Monday calling for an independent investigation into President Donald Trump’s alleged ties to late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
The 53-page report, compiled by minority staff, alleges a “growing body of evidence” shows the president was an “active participant” in Epstein’s crimes, citing testimony from 11 women who allege Trump took part in the abuse of women.
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said in a statement that the Department of Justice under Trump “appears to be covering up these crimes to protect the president” and called for a special counsel to investigate the alleged crimes.
“The women who survived Epstein deserve to be heard, Congress must have the complete files required by law, and an independent special counsel must investigate Epstein’s co-conspirators and DOJ’s cover-up and ensure that state and foreign prosecutors have the evidence they need to pursue justice,” Raskin said.
Detailed in the report are the accounts of eight women, five of whom accuse Trump of rape or sexual assault in Epstein’s company, while three others recount Epstein or his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell offered women to Trump.
Additionally, the report refutes Trump’s denial of having been a close friend of Epstein. It cites Trump’s claims that he kicked Epstein out of his Mar-a-Lago club, that he “barely knew” Epstein, he was never on Epstein’s plane, and that he was not aware of Epstein’s crimes. The report alleges information in the DOJ’s Epstein files that contradicts the president’s account was redacted in the files’ release but viewed by members of Congress.
“This evidence demands a complete and independent investigation,” the minority statement said. “Judiciary Democrats call for the appointment of an independent special counsel to investigate and prosecute Epstein’s co-conspirators and ensure that state and foreign prosecutors receive DOJ and FBI’s full support, including access to all relevant evidence.”
“DOJ’s conflict of interest and obstruction make clear that Trump’s appointees cannot be trusted to pursue accountability. Congress must use its legislative and oversight powers to end the cover-up and ensure that those responsible for these crimes face justice,” the statement reads.
The report release is notable, as it comes just eight days before the midterm elections in which Democrats hold the advantage in taking control of the House.
As the consequential elections approach, Democrats have leaned into stoking outrage over the DOJ’s investigation into Epstein. A recent AdImpact analysis cited by Politico found that Democratic candidates have spent over $36 million on Epstein-related ads in the 2026 elections.
DEMOCRATS HAVE SPENT $36 MILLION ON EPSTEIN-RELATED ADS IN MIDTERM CYCLE
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) Senate Majority PAC alone said it spent over $20 million on Epstein ads in Senate races in Maine, Iowa, Ohio, Kansas, Georgia, and Alaska.
The ads primarily focus on GOP donors who were connected to Epstein, incumbent’s votes on releasing the Epstein files, and on occasion, reference the candidates in the files themselves.
