New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has applied his pro-Hamas mindset to the illegal immigrants in his city, calling for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to be abolished because its officers won’t let illegal immigrants use children as human shields to protect themselves while they commit crimes.
ICE officers shot illegal immigrant Oscar Belgal last week. According to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, Belgal had a rap sheet of “four charges of felony robbery, two charges of felony assault, felony larceny, misdemeanor assault, weapons possession, misdemeanor arson, possession of stolen property, two felony charges for dangerous drugs, and a strong gang affiliation” and “chose to accelerate … at a rate of speed hit the vehicle in front, flee, flare off and accelerate towards officers into another vehicle.”

Democrats, led by Mamdani, are outraged over this shooting because Belgal’s 5-year-old son was in the back seat of the vehicle he was allegedly using to try to hit ICE officers. According to Mamdani, “We’re talking about a federal agency that is ripping families apart, that is willing to endanger the lives of a 5-year-old child, as well as any New Yorkers in the surrounding area. And then, after the fact, seeks to blame the person and the city at large, as opposed to reflect upon their own actions.”
Such is the Palestinian mindset of Mamdani and the Democratic Party. An illegal immigrant with a violent criminal record, and a history of fleeing, using his vehicle as a weapon is not the issue. In fact, ICE is wrong to “blame the person,” according to Mamdani. It wasn’t Belgal who chose to endanger his child by committing multiple crimes with him in the car, but ICE, for refusing to allow Belgal to flee, and possibly run its personnel over, using his 5-year-old as a human shield. The child, thankfully, was not hit by gunfire.

Mamdani and his fellow Democrats believe illegal immigrants should be able to do anything and remain in the country. He doesn’t believe ICE should be in New York City to deport Belgal, and he believes Belgal should be free to break as many laws as he wants if ICE attempts to detain him. Mamdani and the Democratic Party view the human shield strategy Belgal attempted to use with his child as legitimate and, by defending Belgal and condemning ICE in this shooting, are effectively encouraging other illegal immigrants to use it.
It is the same view Mamdani has toward Palestinians: He believes Hamas should be able to use civilians as human shields and that Israel is to blame if any harm befalls those human shields. Democrats think that their protected classes of criminal illegal immigrants and Palestinian terrorists can do no wrong, and everyone else must accommodate them, no matter how many people they endanger in the process.
