Former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is set to join Fox News as an on-air contributor after she left the Trump administration this year.
Leavitt is expected to begin her new role Nov. 1. She stepped down as President Donald Trump’s top spokeswoman Aug. 27 after announcing earlier that month that she wanted to spend more time with her young family.
“The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary — and that is why I have ultimately made the bittersweet decision to depart the White House and embark on a new chapter in my life.” Leavitt wrote Aug. 12.
Leavitt gave birth to her daughter, Viviana, whom she calls “Vivi,” on May 1. Leavitt and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, also have a young son.
Leavitt, who was 27 when Trump appointed her, became the youngest White House press secretary in history.
Her departure from the administration has not marked an exit from Trump’s political orbit. Leavitt said after leaving the White House that she planned to return to MAGA Inc., the Trump-aligned super PAC where she previously worked as a spokeswoman.
At her departure, Trump said Leavitt would “be one of my top outside advisors, and an influential voice within the Republican Party” as he works to help Republicans win the 2026 midterm elections.

Leavitt previously served as an assistant White House press secretary during Trump’s first term before becoming communications director for Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY). She ran unsuccessfully for Congress in New Hampshire in 2022, losing to Rep. Chris Pappas (D-NH).
She subsequently joined MAGA Inc. before working on Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and ultimately becoming his White House press secretary.
