Kick the UN out of New York — and build a museum of socialism in its place

.

The U.N. General Assembly adjourned Friday, leaving behind a trail of unpaid parking tickets, untipped maitre D’s, and the stench of its deeply venomous hatred for the United States and our allies.

It’s nothing new. The United Nations is united only in its despising of everything we stand for — freedom, democracy, capitalism, and Judeo-Christian values.

The U.N. is the mother of all corrupt nongovernmental organizations, its very existence a cynical shakedown of the Western countries most of its members despise.

The U.N. was founded in an era of post-World War II optimism, but it didn’t take long before the Soviets and the Chinese communists found a massive constituency of “non-aligned” countries who could be counted on to vote against the U.S. at every turn.

The General Assembly is a snake pit of two-bit dictators, tyrants, despots, mass murderers, socialists, communists, antisemites, and other despicable so-called leaders. They recognize that the U.N. is the perfect setting to funnel the money from Western nations into their numbered Swiss accounts.

The U.N. has never met a progressive shibboleth it didn’t like. Climate change; diversity, equity, and inclusion; economic redistribution; global taxation; and criminalizing actions by sovereign states are always welcome topics at the U.N. Why? Because they’re a way for the world’s worst leaders to force Western countries to hand over the Benjamins.

When the UNGA is in session, New York traffic slows to a 4-mph crawl. The city spends millions on overtime for police officers to keep the traffic moving. It’s not fair to hardworking New Yorkers and the city’s visitors. They’re stuck trying to cross a Midtown clotted with Escalades filled with so-called VIPs whose hatred of American values is matched only by their love of New York shopping.

Members of the U.N. Relief and Works Agency, ostensibly serving the Palestinians, were proven to have actually participated in the atrocities of Oct. 7, 2023. This is what our U.N. dues pay for. The anti-Jewish, anti-Israel bias of the U.N. is nothing new. The best comment on it comes from Mike Huckabee, America’s ambassador to Israel: “All the U.N. seems to want to do is point their fingers at the Jews. In the entire world, there are only 16 million Jews. So if they’re the greatest threat to the whole world, that small in number, I guess the U.N. is just not real good at math.”

I say, enough. It’s time to move the U.N. out of New York, lock, stock, and socialists. They don’t deserve to be here. Show them the door once and for all.

Most people don’t know this, but the U.N. hosts major operations in Geneva, Vienna, and Nairobi, Kenya. Let the delegates, bureaucrats, and other freeloaders go to those cities and carry on their anti-American rantings far from our shores. The shopping won’t be as nice in Nairobi, but that’s not our problem.

This will leave 18 acres of prime Midtown Manhattan real estate hard by the East River ready for redevelopment. The latest trend in downtowns across the country is to turn office towers into high-class residences. So transforming the U.N. into beautiful high-end housing is right on time.

I would turn the 39-story Secretariat into 450 luxury condominiums, which could sell for between $2 million and $15 million on the lower floors, and $20 million and $40 million for a few spectacular penthouses. This would bring billions of dollars to the federal government to reduce the deficit, while ensuring that the socialist mayor of New York doesn’t get a penny.

I would then turn the General Assembly building into a museum of socialism and communism. I would require every schoolchild in the U.S. to visit multiple times before graduation. They would see just what goes on in failed systems such as the Soviet Union, East Germany, Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) congressional district.

And then I’d tear down the rest of the buildings and turn the land into a beautiful public park. This would be a fantastic gift for New Yorkers, who these days cannot even get close to the U.N., because security is so tight.

Sure, the restaurants, hotels, boutiques, and brothels that serve U.N. delegates will squawk. But that’s life in the big city. They can all relocate to Geneva, Vienna, and Nairobi, too, for all I care.

DEMOCRATS THINK THEY’RE VOTING FOR SWEDEN. DSA IS OFFERING VENEZUELA

It’s time to send all these pigs at the trough packing.

As the president says, believe me. They won’t be missed.
