President Donald Trump winced during a military flyover as he greeted Chinese President Xi Jinping at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday evening.
Trump and first lady Melania Trump welcomed Xi and his wife, Chinese first lady Peng Liyuan, to Washington for a three-day state visit that includes a military review, state dinner, and multiple meetings and sit-downs. The president rolled out the red carpet for Xi as he got off the plane, followed by a ceremony at the Air Force base.
The Wednesday greeting included music from the Air Force band, the playing of the American and Chinese national anthems, ceremonial cannon fire, and a flyover from two B-1 bombers.
During the flyover, Trump, 80, flinched in apparent pain as the loud jets flew overhead. Xi, 73, appeared unmoved by the ceremonial flyover.

The pair then spoke for several minutes before they departed separately for Washington, D.C., where they will reunite Thursday.
The president will host Xi on Thursday for another arrival ceremony, before a highly anticipated state dinner Thursday evening in which several Big Tech executives are expected to be in attendance.
