It was May 2024 when the Democratic Party showed Lindy Li what it truly thought of her.
Li, a political operative and tireless fundraiser known for her unparalleled work ethic, had dedicated years of her political life to getting Democrats elected to office. A former congressional candidate, Li had risen in the ranks of the Democratic National Committee, ascending to top positions, including Mid-Atlantic regional chairwoman. She was also previously named to Gov. Josh Shapiro’s (D-PA)Advisory Commission on Asian American and Pacific Islander Affairs. But as time passed, Li noticed the Democrats had changed, and that change endangers the constitutional republic.
“Democrats are no longer Democrats but communists and socialists wrapped in blue branding,” Li told the Washington Examiner in an exclusive interview. “They will take our country down a vicious slippery slope. I was born in an authoritarian communist regime. I would know.”
Li was a veteran political insider at the time, working for the Biden campaign during the 2024 presidential election season. Her main goal, obviously, was to help get then-President Joe Biden reelected.
In May 2024, Li was tasked with co-hosting a fundraiser for the Biden campaign at the luxurious Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C., which Li thought was going to be a “serious, thoughtful affair.” Instead, it turned out to be a revelatory experience for Li, with the Democrats showing how they viewed her as a token, whom they intended to use to show just how supposedly in touch Democrats were with Asian American culture. In typical Democratic patronizing fashion, the event featured a “fleet of Chinese lion dancers” that shocked and appalled Li, admittedly catching her “completely” off guard.
Just one thing: Not one part of the over-the-top performance was an authentic cultural representation of Li or her “fellow Asian Americans.” According to Li, Democrats torpedoed her plans for the fundraiser, and in essence, found the most stereotypical Asian performance possible to show how diverse, inclusive, and multicultural Democrats were compared to Republicans. They reduced Li’s years of work and contributions to a “racial caricature.”
“If I had been asked, I would have told the Dems that these dancers did not represent me or my fellow Asian Americans,” Li said, in a piece she wrote for the New York Post. “I grew up dancing to Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys, not vibrating lions. But the DNC sees only racial caricatures and reduced me to the faux multiculturalism they shoved down everyone’s throats. They could not pause for even one second, their obsessive compulsion with race and desire to ‘other’ us at every opportunity.”
This is just one of the many incidents Li details in her thrilling memoir, Unburdened, being released on Sept. 22. In it, she chronicles her experiences, including the DNC’s performative obsession with race, hyperbolic politics, widespread deception by Democrats against the public during the 2024 presidential election, and the damage they sought to cause in the political spectrum through repeated and relentless acts of dishonesty and distractions.
“The DNC is a flaming dumpster fire, hurtling down the river,” Li said. “They tried to destroy my life and accused me of lying about them being in debt, all the while secretly filing with the FEC that they’re in debt and had put up their own building as collateral for a massive loan.”

“Still awaiting my apology by the way,” she added.
