Former Vice President Kamala Harris is headed to Georgia in October to campaign with Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) at the Fulton County Democratic Party Committee’s annual dinner, despite some Democrats stiff-arming her support in the midterm elections.
Harris is set to give the keynote address at the 2026 Fulton Forward Dinner on Oct. 30. The event is intended to fundraise for Democrats in the Peach State, but money is not likely the focus for Ossoff, who has a $42.5 million war chest.
The event is the last campaign stop Harris plans to make in the midterm season, ending her run with one of the midterm election’s most famous candidates. The event is set to take place in Fulton County, which became the focus of President Donald Trump’s voter fraud claims about the 2020 election.
Ossoff’s decision to have Harris join him on the campaign trail contrasts with the strategy of many other Democrats in closely watched races, as some have said they don’t want the former vice president to join them.
Among the candidates to reject Harris’s helping hand are Iowa’s Democratic Senate and gubernatorial nominees, Josh Turek and Rob Sand. Additionally, Alaska’s Democratic Senate candidate, Rep. Mary Peltola (D-AK), declined a fundraising solicitation Harris sent on her behalf.
Harris remains a front-runner for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, but her time in the Biden administration and her 2024 loss are making some candidates wary of embracing her in must-win contests.
Harris has kept a relatively low profile leading up to the general election, making stops in areas that lean heavily Democratic, such as her home state. Still, being shunned from swing districts and GOP-leaning states is a challenge for Harris as she tries to beef up her national profile.

Ossoff, who has also been floated as a potential 2028 presidential candidate, has largely embraced Harris as he seeks a second term. He previously held a private “Women for Ossoff” call with Harris, where he said it was a “delight” to see her.
