The Chinese-controlled propaganda app TikTok has contributed to propagandizing American women on behalf of someone who admitted to killing her children. Can we admit that the app should have been banned years ago?
The trial of Lindsay Clancy has been marked by a public outpouring of support for Clancy, who strangled her three children to death one by one, primarily from women consuming propagandistic slop on TikTok. The app has been flooded with pro-Clancy content, has contributed millions of dollars in fundraising to Clancy’s parents to offset her legal costs, and has encouraged hundreds of supporters to flock to the trial to publicly support her and her “insanity” defense.
‘NOT GUILTY BY INSANITY’ IS A CRIMINAL JUSTICE SCAM
Moreover, the TikTok cesspool has produced the conspiracy theory that Clancy is entirely innocent, framed by her husband, the real killer. This utterly deranged theory is not even maintained by Clancy and her defense team, who admit she killed the children. Not only has TikTok seemingly been boosting pro-Clancy posts, but it has been potentially censoring content like that of former Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt, who alleged as much and pointed out the “algorithmic psychosis” infecting society.
In recent weeks, TikTok has also been promoting “trends” calling on people to vandalize Flock license-plate-reading cameras. Over the years, TikTok has promoted other criminal trends, encouraging students to vandalize their schools’ bathrooms (the “Devious Licks” challenge) and encouraging criminals to steal Kia and Hyundai cars. We also know that TikTok has a history of promoting antisemitic, pro-terrorist content and censoring posts that reflect poorly on the Chinese Communist Party.
BIN LADEN SUPPORT IS JUST ANOTHER REASON TO BAN TIKTOK
After President Donald Trump granted limitless exemptions to TikTok to allow it to run under the Chinese ownership of ByteDance, the app’s U.S. operations were sold to a collection of American investors. But ByteDance still holds a nearly 20% stake in the app, and the algorithm that pushes toxic, hateful, criminal content to American users has not been torn down and rebuilt under this new operation. The algorithm was retrained on U.S.-user data, but the content that is popular on the app is the result of years of cultivation by the malicious Chinese algorithm in the first place. It’s the same old car with a new set of paint.
The app should have been banned, both for the data security concerns and the obvious Chinese manipulation of Americans that leads to such things as supporters rallying for an admitted child killer. Instead, Trump potentially violated the law to keep the app afloat and allow ByteDance to continue to have a hand in the pot, and we will be forced to live with the consequences of each deranged “trend” as a result.
