President Donald Trump reacted to anchor Maria Bartiromo‘s exit from Fox News on Thursday, praising the journalist’s ratings and saying her departure will not sit well with fans.
The network announced Bartiromo’s exit Thursday afternoon, thanking her for her time with the company but offering few details about the reason behind her departure.
“I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. “Three different shows, always number one. Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior. Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy. God bless you, Maria!”
Bartiromo had been with Fox News for over a decade and hosted Mornings with Maria, Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street, and Sunday Morning Futures, featuring Trump on her shows numerous times during her tenure.
While Bartiromo and the network have said little about her exit, reporting from Puck and Status suggests she was fired due to her wanting to pursue a story related to theories that China played a role in the 2020 election, something Trump often amplifies.
Fox News producers reportedly refused to air Bartiromo’s story, and the anchor later shared a text exchange about the cancellation with the White House, according to the outlets. The White House allegedly contacted producers and executives about the situation, which they saw as a fireable offense.
MARIA BARTIROMO NO LONGER WITH FOX NEWS
Election conspiracies are a touchy subject for the media giant, as the company faced two defamation lawsuits from voting technology companies. Fox settled with Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million in April 2023 for claims alleging the company’s machines rigged the 2020 election. A separate $2.7 billion lawsuit filed by Smartmatic is ongoing. Bartiromo is named in both lawsuits.
