Comer says he hopes MAGA Inc. spends ‘every single penny’ of war chest in midterm elections

.

Rep. James Comer (R-KY) asked President Donald Trump to spend the hundreds of millions of dollars his super PAC MAGA Inc. has stored in its war chest, saying he hopes the president taps into the reserves “for good use” during the midterm elections.

“I can verify that a lot of members of the House are hoping that money is put to good use,” Comer told NewsNation’s Morning in America on Thursday. “We’re going to need every penny of it. That’s a large amount of money. A lot of our donors have donated to that. A lot of the individual members’ online donations are down because more of the small-dollar donors have gravitated towards that MAGA Inc.”

Trump has touted the massive war chest his MAGA Inc. super PAC had stored up by early August. He said at the time that he was “of course” going to spend the $400 million to “help Republicans,” but he did not limit his spending target to only the midterm elections. As Republicans have grown increasingly worried about when Trump will spend the cash, Comer jumped into the conversation.

“We’re calling on President Trump to spend every single penny of that because this is a historical election,” Comer told the outlet. “This is going to determine a lot about what direction our country goes in and a lot about how successful President Trump’s second term will be.”

Trump, when asked whether the $400 million was going to the midterm elections, told Punchbowl News last month that he can spend the money how he wants.

Though the president has issued many GOP endorsements and been on the campaign trail in crucial states this year, he has yet to make any official announcements where he will be investing the money ahead of the unofficial Labor Day start to the fall general election season.

GOP ANXIETY GROWS THAT TRUMP MIDTERM MONEY WILL BE SPENT TOO LATE — OR NOT AT ALL

Trump’s biggest individual bankroller of the 2024 presidential election, however, has entered the 2026 midterm campaign fray. Elon Musk, who was briefly the world’s first trillionaire when his company SpaceX debuted on the public stock market, has spent over $800,000 through his America PAC on multiple congressional races in this year’s midterm elections so far.

Musk’s America PAC has invested in several campaigns, including those of Rep. Thomas Kean Jr. (R-NJ), Republican Texas Senate candidate Ken Paxton, Michigan’s Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers, Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY), and the Iowa GOP Senate candidate, Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA).
