Authorities on Monday afternoon shot a woman near Times Square after she reportedly stabbed several people.
The New York City Police Department told the Washington Examiner there was an officer-involved shooting at West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue just before 4:30. There is an active investigation into the incident, a spokesperson said.
The woman was armed with at least one knife and stabbed at least two people before police shot her, several New York City officials told NBC News, adding that the stabbings do not appear to be a terrorist act.
Video footage showed bystanders gawking on the crowded street as police rushed the scene, tased, and then shot the woman.
Both the woman and her two victims were hospitalized in critical condition, according to the New York Post. After stabbing the individuals, officers found her behind the NYPD substation, pointing a knife at them, the outlet said.
Officials are set to hold a press conference on the incident.
