Democrats keep defending anti-American globalist bureaucrats

.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio is right about the International Criminal Court, and Democrats should stop trying to surrender American sovereignty to such a corrupt, immoral body.

On Tuesday, Rubio announced sanctions against ICC President Tomoko Akane and senior trial lawyer Abdoulaye Seye, saying that “Americans will never be transported beyond seas to be tried for pretend offenses.”

A statement from the State Department was even clearer: “The Trump Administration stands ready to take additional measures, if necessary, to systematically dismantle the ICC until it is incapable of threatening American sovereignty.”

AMERICA CALLED IT GENOCIDE. THE ICC SHELVED THE WARRANT

The ICC’s transgressions are well-documented, from targeting Americans over Afghanistan to ignoring China’s genocide of Uyghur Muslims to inadvertently helping Vladimir Putin keep up Russia’s war effort against Ukraine. The ICC is a politically motivated collection of bureaucrats who have become captured by Third-Worldism, as evidenced by the body’s targeting of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on behalf of antisemitic Islamic terrorists in Gaza.

Through all of this, the Democratic Party has remained committed to defending and empowering the ICC. Last year, Senate Democrats (minus Pennsylvania’s John Fetterman) blocked a GOP bill to sanction the ICC over its targeting of Israel. The year prior, then-President Joe Biden opposed an attempt by House Republicans to sanction the body, claiming there were “more effective ways” to discourage it and offering none as alternatives.

RUBIO IS RIGHT: THE ICC SHOULD BE DISMANTLED — BRICK BY BRICK

Meanwhile, the rising socialist wing of the Democratic Party has made it clear that it will follow ICC directives to enforce “international law” on American soil, as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has promised to arrest Netanyahu based on ICC orders. Mamdani has since walked that back, but all it would take is the ear of a favorable Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez presidential administration for Mamdani to decide to become an agent of an otherwise unaccountable body of bureaucrats and what they decide to be “international law.”

The Democratic Party is obsessed with global organizations, no matter how destructive and anti-American they are. This leads the party to defend organizations such as the ICC, surrendering time-honored principles of American governance and law for the “international law” fabricated by global bureaucrats that American voters cannot hold accountable in any way. Dismantling the ICC would be a victory for the U.S. and for global human rights, and yet Democrats continue to defend the arbitrary rules laid out by America-hating bureaucrats.
