Left-wing commentator Hasan Piker blasted critics of Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul el Sayed, accusing them of Islamophobia and urging the party to unite behind the victorious Michigan candidate.
“Like everyone being like ‘Abdul has a f*** ton of work to do mending bridges.’ Here’s the f***ing take nuke for you, okay? You are all unbelievably Islamophobic pieces of s***, okay? You literally called the dude a f***ing terrorist for months on end, and, like, called him a sexist, misogynist, terrorist, bad candidate, fake doctor, when he has, like, two f***ing degrees,” Piker said during his live stream on Twitch Tuesday.
Piker, who built his name as a Twitch streamer and has become a favored campaign surrogate for Democrats, argued that el Sayed’s critics had unfairly portrayed the former Michigan health official as an extremist because he is muslim.
His comments come amid calls for el Sayed to repair relationships within the Democratic party following his primary victory, arguing that the burden should instead fall on those who opposed him. “And now you’re gonna sit there and be like, ‘Well, you know, you really gotta come to me now,’ like what are you talking about?” Piker said.
“Do you wanna f***ing win or not? Lock the f*** in, okay? Lock the f*** in,” Piker said, urging Democrats to rally behind their nominee rather than continue intraparty divisions.
His comments came as el Sayed secured the Democratic nomination for Michigan’s open Senate seat, a race Republicans view as a prime pickup opportunity. The race is expected to pit El Sayed against former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI), the GOP nominee, in one of the marquee Senate races of the 2026 midterm elections.
Piker suggested some Democratic-aligned organizations and consultants could quietly undermine el Sayed’s campaign due to his views on Israel and the war in Gaza. “I do worry that there are some out there who, in an effort to make sure that this narrative that a progressive can win in a state like Michigan doesn’t take root, will literally either subtly or, you know, not so secretively endorse Mike Rogers or stay out of the race.”

He added: “Like everyone is already doing, can El Sayed unite the Democrats, and that question is just can el Sayed get the pro-Israel vote?”
He argued the central question is whether Democratic groups and pro-Israel organizations can move past what he characterized as false attacks on el Sayed long enough to “consolidate the base and defeat the f***ing Republican.”
