The creator behind Spencer Pratt’s AI campaign videos, Charles Curran, is back at it — this time creating videos for California gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton.
Hilton will face off against Xavier Becerra, former President Joe Biden’s Health and Human Services secretary, in November.
Hilton posted the video on X on Thursday titled, “The People vs The Machine.”
“Here it is – our first ad from the people who created those fantastic videos for Spencer Pratt. The People vs The Machine,” Hilton said.
“As long as the machine knows California, nothing will ever change,” the AI narrator said.
The video starts by showing an AI-generated version of Hilton trying to fight the machine.
The video then cuts to AI-generated versions of former Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA), who are depicted at a lavish dinner with gold-rimmed plates. AI Newsom switched off the TV when hearing a new mother asking for help: “We just want someone, anyone to hear us.”
“That’s enough,” AI Newsom said as he turned the TV off.
He then said, “OK, we’ve got to figure out this governor thing. I’d do it forever, but it’s my turn to be president.”
A fleet of robots dressed in women’s office clothing rolled in “the machine.”
At the press of a button, the machine activated and generated the name “Becerra” on the screen.

The video mocked Becerra’s candidacy, with the AI-generated version of Newsom referring to him as “the Biden guy who lost all those kids.”
AI Harris even chimed in, saying, “Can’t be right, run it again.”
Still, Becerra’s name was selected by the machine. AI Becerras came into the room, seemingly confused that the machine picked him.
“The thing [machine] we created to make sure nothing ever changes. As long as you submit to the machine, you don’t have to do anything,” AI Newsom said.
AI Becerra’s face lit up at this, and the video cuts to Becerra at a campaign rally walking up the stairs and being pushed forward by a robot. It caused him to stumble, but not fall, seemingly making fun of former President Joe Biden when he tripped going onstage to speak in Philadelphia in 2023.
“I believe all the things Newsom believed. Four more years! Four more years!” AI Becerra said onstage, as he was hit with an object from the crowd.
The video then showed AI Hilton walking away from the event.
“So, what do you think? It went well?” AI Becerra asked AI Newsom and Harris after he walked offstage.

“That was worse than–” AI Newsom said, as AI Harris side-eyed him. He then laughed and looked into the distance.
The video then cuts to a group of supporters standing behind AI Hilton in a street, including a nurse, a firefighter, and a construction worker.
“Who else is tired of the highest taxes in the country? The highest gas prices in the country? The worst homelessness in the country? This is our state, not the machine’s! That’s what we’re fighting for!” AI Hilton said as the crowd behind him cheered and began marching with him.
Panic seemed to set in the lavish dining room, where AI Newsom, Harris, and Becerra are sitting with the machine. A rumble of angry footsteps shook the table and glasses. The robot secretaries rush to protect the machine and roll it away so it can transform into a massive robot.
“Your taxes are going up, do not resist,” the robot said as it marched toward Hilton’s supporters, who were punching other robots. AI Newsom and Harris looked down at the event in horror.
“Nobody’s ever stood up to the machine before,” AI Harris said.
Robots dragged AI Becerra to safety as AI Hilton caught the California state flag, tossed to him by a firefighter.

“It’s time to take California back!” AI Hilton yelled to the massive robot.
Text printed on the screen said “Enough is Enough” and “Steve Hilton for Governor.”
The last few seconds of the video showed AI Harris back in the dining room with AI Newsom, saying, “Can we get Swalwell back? Run it again,” referring to the congressman who was the presumptive Democratic nominee for governor before he suspended his campaign in April following sexual misconduct allegations. The machine went blank and ended with small text at the bottom of the video, “Ad paid for by Steve Hilton.”
Pratt’s AI campaign videos took the internet by storm. The technique drew attention to his campaign for Los Angeles mayor.

Pratt’s mayoral hopes ended in June when Bass and Councilwoman Nithya Raman, both Democrats, advanced to the general election.
