Secretary of State Marco Rubio will appear on Capitol Hill on Tuesday to testify before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee at 10 a.m. and a House appropriations subcommittee at 2 p.m.
WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE US-IRAN PEACE DEAL BEING NEGOTIATED
Rubio is on the Hill to testify about the State Department‘s budget request, which reqested 30% less discretionary spending funds than last year, per the Federal News Network. But Rubio is bound to face questions beyond his department’s reduced spending requests, such as on the state of the ceasefire and peace talks with Iran, the Trump administration’s increasing pressure on Cuba, and the Russia-Ukraine War.
This will be Rubio’s first testimony before Congress since the start of the Iran war.
