MAHA sees Paxton as ‘warrior’ for its cause: Gabrielle Etzel

Washington Examiner healthcare reporter Gabrielle Etzel said Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) has pursued efforts and investigations aligned with the Make America Healthy Again movement, seeing him as a “warrior” for their cause in the U.S. Senate.

“Members of the Make America Healthy Again movement really see Paxton as a warrior for their cause,” Etzel said on the Scott Jennings Show on Wednesday. “As attorney general, he has opened investigations into Mars, Kellogg, General Mills, baby food makers for the ingredients they’re putting into their food and whether or not they’re safe.”

Etzel’s comments come after Paxton defeated four-term Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) in the Senate primary runoff on Tuesday.

In her discussions with the Paxton campaign, Etzel said she was told the MAHA movement was a “fundamental value” in the Paxton campaign.

“[Paxton] is a true believer, if you will, in the MAHA cause,” she said. “He’s developed a record for the past year and a half or so of being on the cutting edge of these MAHA issues.”

Etzel said MAHA insiders are “excited” about his investigation into Lululemon over alleged exposure to toxic chemicals in its clothing.

“That investigation, MAHA insiders say, is going to be the big issue come 2027,” she said. “The non-toxic clothing. Members of that insider MAHA community really see Paxton, again, as a true believer in their cause, a forward-thinker.”

PAXTON IS MAHA FAVORITE IN TEXAS SENATE RACE

Etzel underscored this by pointing out that with Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) losing his reelection campaign, there is an opening on the Senate Health Committee that MAHA insiders see as an opportunity for Paxton.

“As Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana leaves his position in the Senate Health Committee, [MAHA] see Paxton going into the Senate as moving forward those pro-health issues,” she said.
