‘Knives are out’ for Democrat critical of Graham Platner: Guy Benson

.

Washington Examiner columnist Guy Benson slammed Democrats for their criticisms of Rep. Jake Auchincloss (D-MA), who called out Graham Platner, a Democratic Senate candidate for Maine.

“They are eating him alive on the Left,” Benson said on Fox Business’s The Bottom Line on Tuesday.

CNN on Monday interviewed Auchincloss, who said he found Platner’s tattoo “personally disqualifying.”

“As I said months ago, I find Platner’s Nazi tattoo and his commentary about it personally disqualifying. If it were me I’d vote for someone else in the Maine Democratic primary,” Auchincloss said Tuesday on X.

In October, Platner came under fire after a photo circulated of him with a tattoo of a Nazi symbol.

In an interview with Tommy Vietor of Pod Save America that month, Platner said, “I am not a secret Nazi.”

Platner also made several now-deleted posts on Reddit, including ones about an “armed working class.” Platner apologized for the posts on X.

“I think for this congressman from Massachusetts, he’s like, ‘I think some of this is just a bridge too far,’” Benson said of Auchincloss.

Benson argued that Democrats preach putting “country over party.”

“They generally just mean that applies to Republicans with Trump — they don’t ever want to apply it to themselves, even in a circumstance like this,” Benson said.

“Almost the entire party [is] rallying to the Nazi tattoos guy and his side,” Benson added.

If Platner wins the Democratic ticket, he will face Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME).

“Knives are out for this seemingly pretty lonely critic in the Democratic Party,” Benson said.

The Maine Senate primary election will be held June 9.
