Spencer Pratt files complaint against Karen Bass

Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt claimed that Mayor Karen Bass violated election law and filed a complaint against her.

“Karen Bass just violated election law here,” Pratt said on X. “She is so accustomed to breaking the law with no accountability, she even filmed herself doing it. Well, those days are over. We just filed a formal complaint for illegally gaming the election. We must protect our democracy.”

Pratt said Bass violated election code based on a video she posted. Pratt’s attorney, Peter McNulty, submitted the complaint to Los Angeles City Clerk Patrice Lattimore.

Bass appointed Lattimore in September 2025.

“Electioneering within 100 feet of a ballot box is AGAINST THE LAW,” Pratt said. “Soliciting votes at a ballot box is AGAINST THE LAW. These clear violations show a reckless disregard for the rule of law and our democratic process.”

In the video posted on X, Bass is seen with supporters holding campaign signs right next to an election box.

The complaint alleged that no person can engage in electioneering within 100 feet of a polling place. This includes advocating a specific candidate or displaying their name.

“As evidenced in her own social media posts, Karen Bass has violated the law,” McNulty said in the complaint.

“It isn’t just a matter of Karen Bass being too close, but rather she shows herself and others directly submitting her ballots into drop boxes all while electioneering, soliciting votes and promoting such activity all over social media,” McNulty said.

“Someone in a position of power should be especially respectful of our democratic laws, but this is just emblematic of Karen’s mafia-like regime,” Pratt said.

Pratt is running against Bass and LA City Councilwoman Nithya Raman. He has called out Bass over her handling of drug use and homelessness in the city.

Pratt’s campaign for mayor has grown immensely over the past few weeks. He even captured the attention of President Donald Trump, who said, “I’d like to see him do well.”

Turning Point CEO Erika Kirk also commented on Pratt’s campaign, calling him “authentically American.”
