President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated video of himself throwing former late-night show host Stephen Colbert in a dumpster, following the end of his show.
On Friday, the day after Colbert signed off from his last show, the president posted a video showing the departed late-night host standing for his monologue, only to be flanked by Trump, who grabbed and threw him in a conveniently placed dumpster onstage. After closing the lid of the dumpster, with a sad Colbert inside, the Village People’s “YMCA” started playing, and the president signed off with his signature dance.
The video was posted without a caption. CBS announced the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in July after years of poor ratings, citing it as a “financial decision.”
Earlier in the day, Trump celebrated Colbert’s cancellation, saying it was the beginning of a pattern.
“Stephen Colbert’s firing from CBS was the ‘Beginning of the End’ for untalented, nasty, highly overpaid, not funny, and very poorly rated Late Night Television Hosts. Others, of even less talent, to soon follow. May they all Rest in Peace!” he said.

Earlier on Friday, Trump posted an edited image of himself lingering over Greenland, which he has expressed interest in the U.S. taking over, and several images of himself taken by photographers.
Trump has frequently utilized artificial intelligence to poke at his opponents, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), whom the president has posted several AI-altered videos of wearing a sombrero and a fake mustache. Jeffries has decried the videos as “disgusting.”
