White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced she gave birth to her daughter, Viviana, on May 1, adding that “Vivi” is “perfect” and “healthy.”
“On May 1st, Viviana aka ‘Vivi’ joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love,” Leavitt said in a post on X. “She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister. We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble.”
This is Leavitt’s second child with husband Nicholas Riccio. The couple’s first child, Nicholas “Niko” Robert Riccio, was born on July 10, 2024.
Leavitt thanked those who contacted her throughout her pregnancy.
“Thank you to everyone who reached out with prayers during my pregnancy – I truly felt them throughout the entire experience,” she said. “God is Good.”

Leavitt announced her pregnancy in December, saying the couple’s baby girl was the “best Christmas gift.”
The press secretary was expected to begin her maternity leave days before the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, but postponed her maternity leave following the shooting at the event.

The White House is not replacing Leavitt while she is on maternity leave, as various members of the Trump administration will rotate to fill in for her at the podium.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio was the first to fill in for Leavitt, leading Wednesday’s press briefing.
