Left fails to confront political violence as ‘serious problem’: Guy Benson

.

Washington Examiner columnist Guy Benson criticized the Left and Democrats for ongoing political violence in response to a Democratic Senate candidate’s threat against President Donald Trump.

“I think that is an indisputable objective read on the situation,” Benson said on Fox News’s FOX & Friends Tuesday.

Democrat Raymond Chandler was in the running for the Pennsylvania Senate seat in the 2028 election, challenging Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA). Chandler was arrested on May 1 after he made several threats against a member of Congress and Trump. He left voicemails for the congressman, and in one of them, he directed him to kill Trump.

It’s the latest in a string of threats against lawmakers and Trump.

On April 25, an alleged gunman, Cole Tomas Allen, stormed past security and fired gunshots inside the Washington Hilton during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. The Secret Service stormed the stage to protect Trump and his cabinet members. Allen was charged with attempting to assassinate the president.

Benson argued that Chandler was “obviously not all with it” and it’s “part of a larger pattern.”

“You don’t have a monopoly on either side when it comes to political violence, but one side, at the moment, is attempting it more and justifying it more, and that is the Left. I think that is an indisputable objective read on the situation,” Benson said.

Benson related it to former Democratic Rep. Gabby Giffords, who was shot in the head in 2011 but survived and recovered.

NOBODY WANTS TO BELIEVE A NOBODY ALMOST KILLED THE PRESIDENT

Benson said the Right was targeted when that happened, and, “We were treated to really a weekslong lecture and national conversation about violence and political rhetoric, and now we see this sort of thing happening disturbingly routinely.”

“Strangely, that kind of national conversation is not being demanded by a lot of people in the news media,” Benson said. “And unfortunately, I think a lot of people on the political Left are simply refusing to grapple with a serious problem that they do have.”
