Two suspects were indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly assaulting Turning Point USA reporter Savannah Hernandez at a protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Minneapolis.
Hernandez was reporting on an anti-ICE protest outside the Whipple Federal Building on April 11 when she was surrounded by protesters. Videos of the incident show Hernandez being pushed several times by demonstrators.
The Whipple Building is home to the regional ICE field office for Minnesota and has been the scene of protests since Operation Metro Surge was launched in December.
The indictment was handed down on Tuesday and is expected to be unsealed on Wednesday, according to reporting by Fox News. Neither the names of the suspects nor the charges against them have been released.
Videos recorded by Hernandez and onlookers show protesters shouting and blowing whistles before a physical altercation broke out. Bystanders attempted to de-escalate the situation.
Hernandez could be heard yelling, “Get away from me,” when a man in a blue sweatshirt walked up and shoved her to the pavement.
Following the attack, three people were reportedly going to face charges for the assault, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office. Last week, the sheriff’s office said it was still reviewing the charges in the case.
Hernandez shared news of the indictment on her social media accounts, saying, “justice is coming.”
“HUGE NEWS: A federal grand jury has decided to bring indictments against two of the violent protesters who assaulted me in Minneapolis,” she said. “No word yet on which of the three are being indicted, but I’m EXTREMELY grateful to the DOJ for moving so swiftly on this.”
Speaking with Fox News’s Laura Ingraham, Hernandez recounted the incident, voice shaking, and explained that she was not attempting to interview any of the protesters while reporting for the conservative advocacy group when the situation turned violent.

“I, um, I’m scared to report, Laura,” Hernandez said. “This is my job. It’s what I’ve been doing for the last six years, and I’m terrified to do my job. I can’t even interview people properly on the street because I got brutally assaulted and pushed to the ground by a 250-pound man.”
Hernandez added that she made a point not to engage because she knows “the left-wing is violent,” alleging the same type of group is responsible for TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk’s assassination last year.
