The Helsinki Commission will gather experts for a 2 p.m. panel on the relationship between the Holy See and United States foreign policy.
The commission said the briefing will examine the “historic” foreign policy opportunities presented by Pope Leo XIV, the first pope from the U.S.
The debate comes after President Donald Trump attacked the pope in a Sunday Truth Social post, calling him “WEAK on crime,” and “terrible for Foreign Policy.”
