Trump deletes photo depicting himself as Jesus after backlash

.

President Donald Trump appears to have deleted an image depicting himself as Jesus Christ on Truth Social, which drew major backlash from his supporters.

The photo depicted him wearing a white and red robe as he places one hand on a hospitalized man and has a shining light in his other hand. The AI-generated image includes a hat on one of the background characters that bears a jumble of letters.

The picture was posted on Sunday night and has been deleted as of late Monday morning. The Washington Examiner contacted the White House for comment.

“This is blasphemy,” Christian influencer Kangmin Lee said on X. “Depicting yourself as Jesus is utterly unacceptable, especially from the President of the United States.”

Trump’s post came hours after he criticized Pope Leo XIV for being “WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy.” He also said Pope Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican “if I wasn’t in the White House.”

“This is gross blasphemy,” Republican activist and political commentator Brilyn Hollyhand said on X. “Faith is not a prop. You don’t need to portray yourself as a savior when your record should speak for itself. The same God who saved Trump’s life from that bullet sent His son Jesus to die for our sins. He died for Trump just as much as for you and I.”

“It’s more than blasphemy. It’s an Antichrist spirit,” Former Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene said on X. She said in a separate post that Trump shared the image on Orthodox Easter.

“Why? Seriously, I cannot understand why he’d post this,” women’s sports activist Riley Gaines said on X. “Is he looking for a response? Does he actually think this?”

“Trumps like ‘guess I’ll go out with a bang,’” Timcast host Tim Pool said on X.

Nick Adams, the Trump administration’s special presidential envoy for American tourism, exceptionalism, and values, posted a near-identical image of Trump’s photo on Feb. 4, saying, “America has been sick for a long time. President Trump is healing this nation.”

One notable difference with Trump’s image, however, is how one character walking in the sky appears to have three spikes protruding from its head, reminiscent of the Statue of Liberty. Notably, the actual Statue of Liberty is featured in both photos.

THE ERA OF AMATEUR VATICANOLOGY DAWNS IN THE UNITED STATES

Pope Leo dismissed Trump’s attack on him on Monday, saying, “I have no fear of the Trump administration.” The pope previously spoke out against the Iran war and the “demonic cycle of evil” at play in it.
